The Children's Place, Inc. was founded in 1979 as The Learning Place Nursery School in South Windsor, CT by Holly Urbanetti-Cassano. Ms. Cassano is a graduate of Hartt College of Music. After teaching in the public school for three years she embarked on creating a program that had a curriculum with a strong music, art, and science emphasis. The program was so successful that she decided to expand into day care. In 1984 The Children's Place, Inc. opened it's doors at a new 8,000 sq. ft. site located at 452 Tolland Tpke., Manchester. In 1995 she expanded the program to include an all day kindergarten. The program is licensed for 133 children and has a staff of 40 employees.
